The active mobile subscriptions for Nigeria’s telecoms services have risen to 225.8M as of January 2023

This was made known by the Nigerian Communications Commission’s latest update as seen on NCC’s website.

This growth represents 1.7% growth when compared to the subscriptions in the sector in 2022.

The data showed that MTN Nigeria had the most subscribers with 2.9M, while the rest of the GSM operators, of Airtel, GLO, and 9Mobile, recorded a total of 3.8 million increases in January.

The data from NCC showed that MTN’s active lines grew from 89M to 91.9M in January. The smartphone network, Airtel added 497,863 new subscribers and displaced GLO from the second position it previously held. The telco’s active customers rose from 60M to 60.5M.

GLO recorded a 44,522 increase in subscriptions. This brought the total number of users of GLO lines to 60.3M from 60.29M in December 2022

9Mobile also saw growth as its database of subscribers grew by 178,879. This brought the total active lines to 12.8M.

Nigerian telecoms have been experiencing growth as the companies in the sector compete to provide better services to their millions of users.
