The CEO of Meta, Mark Zuckerberg disclosed on Tuesday that the WhatsApp Business application has risen to more than 200 million users on its network.
This is a four-fold increase from around three years ago, as the economy becomes more unstable and Meta’s core advertising revenue suffers, there has been a rise in user engagement.
According to Meta, capabilities that will enable small businesses to run advertising that link to the messaging platform without requiring a Facebook account will soon be tested.
For a price, small and medium-sized enterprises would be able to send their consumers customised messages like updates on a holiday sale and appointment reminders.
Meta has been working to monetise its messaging products, WhatsApp and Messenger.
