The United States Government has affirmed it’s commitment to supporting programmes that will drive digital transformation in Nigeria.
According to Nairametrics, this was disclosed by the US Consul General , Will Stevens, while delivering his keynote remarks on the theme “Technology as an Enabler and Tool for Empowerment,” at the official opening of Digital Expert Academy in Lagos.
He said the American government would continue to support programmes that provide youth with quality technological learning opportunities.
The U.S. Strategy Toward Sub-Saharan Africa, as outlined by the Consul General, is part of the Biden Administration’s efforts to spur digital transformation and develop an ecosystem based on internet and ICT that is accessible to all, uses open standards, and is protected from cyberattacks.
“This initiative is investing in some of Nigeria’s richest resources – its young people. “We hope that by developing local talent in tech fields, we help accelerate medium and long-term growth in Nigeria’s and indeed Africa’s digital economy.”
He went on to say that the United States Mission in Nigeria backs Nigeria’s growing digital industry and advocates for the enabling environment needed to cultivate a sector that benefits the future prosperity of all Nigerians.
