Starlink, an offshoot of Elon Musk-owned SpaceX, has launched its internet service in Nigeria and across 40+ countries in the world.

The high-speed Starlink allows you to send and receive data across thousands of miles. It is a global computer network of information and data.

Starlink created a global broadband network by using a constellation of Low Earth Orbit Satellites to provide high-tech internet speed. It currently has about 3,000 satellites in the earth’s orbit, and there are plans for more.

How much is Starlink in Nigeria

Starlink costs $600 (₦438,000) and a subscription fee of $43 (₦31,000)per month for Starlink’s hardware in Nigeria.

However, for an average Nigerian, this is quite expensive since the minimum wage in this part of the world is ₦30,000. As such, Starlink looks likely to be affordable for companies and high-income-earning Nigerians.

How to order Starlink device

Starlink hardware can be ordered from the company’s website. The kit arrives with everything you need for set-up and getting online in minutes. The kit includes; Starlink, a WiFi router, cables, and a base. It is self-orienting and connects in minutes if there’s a clear view of the sky.

Starlink system offers an internet speed of 250Mbps, a huge upgrade from Lagos’ 11.84 Mbps download, and the Starlink router can support up to 128 devices.

It takes at least a month to get to Nigeria and then on the final order, it took a week and a few days to get to Nigeria, although there are options to skip the waitlist.

Orders for Starlink can be placed using your bank’s domiciliary account, as well as virtual cards.

How to set up your Starlink

  1. Download the App, which is available on both Android and iOS devices.
  2. Check For Obstructions.
  3. Unpack The Starlink Kit.
  4. Assemble And Install The Dish.
  5. Plug Everything In.
  6. Connect To Starlink.
  7. Use The App To Manage Starlink visibility, statistics, and speed settings.
