Tweeps can now appeal suspension – Twitter

Fraud: Musk faces trial over 2018 Tesla tweet

Twitter users can now appeal when their accounts are suspended, and their appeals will be evaluated using the platform’s new criteria for reinstatement, the company announced on Friday.

The company stated that Twitter accounts will only be suspended for severe and repeated violations of the platform’s policies. This new criterion came into effect after tech billionaire Elon Musk purchased the social media company in October.

Some of the severe policy violations that can earn a user a suspension include engaging in illegal content or activity, inciting and threatening violence or harm, and engaging in targeted harassment of other users.

Twitter also said it will take less harsh actions in the future, such as limiting the reach of tweets that violate its regulations or requiring users to remove tweets before continuing to use the account, rather than account suspension.

Last December, Elon Musk and Twitter were severally criticized for suspending the handles of several journalists because of a controversy that bordered on the publishing of public data about the billionaire’s plane. He later reinstated the accounts.
