Tech boss calls for forensic audit of BVAS

The co-founder of Touch and Pay Technologies, Mr. Olamide Afolabi, has called for a forensic audit of the Bi-Modal Voters Accreditation Machine System to ascertain what caused the failure.

Afolabi made this call during an interview on Arise TV. He said the failure of BVAS was evidence of INEC’s poor preparedness for the 2023 general elections.

“I think that the way forward for us regarding this election is that we have very smart people that are very passionate about the election, and people use to come together and ensure that the process of providing technology is credible because l believe that if we are having these problems after we have piloted it, probably we are using one server, so we need to have a kind of forensic audit on the entire infrastructure that was provided to back it up we need to review the architecture to ensure that it is world standard,” Afolabi said on Arise TV

This comes after the INEC chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, came under heavy attacks from Nigerians over the failure of BVAS and other events that marred the 2023 polls.

Afolabi called for stakeholders meeting for the election results, to decide on which would be acceptable and believable.

Afolabi said that just like every Nigerian who saw Nigerian making giant steps with technology, BVAS gave high hopes to Nigerians and restored their confidence in the efficiency, and integrity of INEC.
