Open AI’s ChatGPT suffers global outage

OpenAI introduces incognito mode to ChatGPT

Hundreds of users reported problems with ChatGPT on Monday morning, indicating a global outage.

By 8 a.m., nearly 800 people had reported outages (GMT).

The AI technology service was still down by 10 a.m. Monday, according to internet monitoring sites Down Detector and Down for Everyone Except Me.

It comes as the CEO of OpenAI, which runs ChatGPT, expressed concern about the latest software update GPT4.

“We have to be careful here,” Sam Altman told ABC News on Thursday. People should be relieved that we are concerned about this.

“I’m particularly concerned that these models could be used to spread disinformation on a large scale.”

“Now that they’re getting better at writing computer code,” he continues, “they could be used for offensive cyber-attacks.”

The artificial intelligence that powers ChatGPT will reportedly be able to convert text to video.

GPT-4, the successor to GPT-3.5, has the potential to generate images, sounds, and video from text requests.

ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence (AI) tool that can provide fully formed answers to queries and produce fluent writing, raising concerns about its potential for misuse in classrooms and the workplace.

Critics have expressed concern that its ability to generate fluent writing and switch between formal and conversational tones on command makes it particularly difficult for teachers to determine if students have used it to write essays, for example.
