Google doodle honours Nigerians on election day

Google, the search giant felicitates with Nigerians today (Saturday, 25, 2023) as they go to the polls to elect the successor of President Muhammadu Buhari (retd)

In the home of Google’s Google Chrome, an election doodle was displayed, and when clicked, it displayed all the information you need to know about the 2023 elections.

The 2023 Presidential election is a highly-anticipated election. This is the first time a third candidate is going head to head with the two known political parties. The third candidate, Peter Obi, has been projected by almost all the polls to win the 2023 presidential elections against the PDP’s Atiku Abubakar and the APC’s Bola Tinubu.

The election is scheduled to hold in the thirty-six states of the federation. Analysts say a run-off is likely because a candidate won’t get 25% of the votes required to be declared President by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Young Nigerians are strongly backing the third-force candidate, Peter Obi but whoever wins at the polls today has a lot of work to do as Nigeria is bedeviled with a lot of crises ranging from high inflation, insecurity, low standard of living and poor healthcare

In November 2021, Google was the most popular search engine in Nigeria. It accounted for over 98 percent of the web traffic in the country. This underscores the importance of Nigeria to Google, hence the felicitation.
