FTX boss Bankman-Fried arrested in Bahamas

Former CEO of the defunct crypto exchange platform FTX, Sam Bankman-Fried, was arrested in the Bahamas on Monday.

According to reports, Bankman-Fried was arrested by police after American authorities requested that he be extradited.

The United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Damian Williams, confirmed the arrest in a tweet on Tuesday “Earlier this evening, Bahamian authorities arrested Samuel Bankman-Fried at the request of the U.S. Government, based on a sealed indictment filed by the SDNY. We expect to move to unseal the indictment in the morning and will have more to say at that time.”

FTX, which Bankman-Fried was Chief Executive Officer had filed for bankruptcy in the United States of America in November and he stepped down from his position.

In November, FTX, of which Bankman-Fried was CEO, filed for bankruptcy in the United States of America, and he resigned from his position.
