The Director of Operations, Unitellas Edge Cloud, a provider of enterprise-grade edge cloud and IT infrastructure as a service, Blessing Omo said Nigeria must take advantage of edge cloud technology.
Omo made this remark at this year’s edition of the Information Communication Technology and Telecommunication EXPO held in Lagos State, according to the Nation.
Organised by the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the event themed, “Ensuring Efficient Digital Infrastructure in Nigeria” was held from August 31 – September 1, 2022.
The event was aimed at providing an opportunity to influence national discourse on digital infrastructure in Nigeria and also connect businesses and create opportunities.
Omo added that for Nigeria to achieve her digital economy agenda, there is a need to invest in effective and efficient digital infrastructure, particularly edge cloud technologies, which offer cost savings, capacity to scale rapidly, advanced cyber-security features and access to powerful analytical tools for processing big data.
“Edge Clouds are compact or modular data centres closer to where the end users utilise them. Edge Computing brings processing closer to the source of data and enables the unlocking of the value of data assets in real-time for critical decision making,” she said.
