Canva releases new AI-powered tools

Canva is releasing a slew of new features, including an AI-powered tool suite and a new Brand Hub.

On Wednesday, the company unveiled the new features and tools at its Canva Create virtual event.

Canva co-founder and CEO Melanie Perkins said in a statement, “Today, we’re thrilled to advance that vision by introducing a whole new range of features, focused on empowering brands to scale their creative outputs,”

The company is releasing Assistant, which allows users to search for design elements and quickly access features. The assistant gives users quick access to AI-powered design tools such as Magic Write, the platform’s AI-powered copywriting assistant that debuted in December.

Magic Write can be used to create website copies or presentation summaries. Canva has also introduced a new way to generate presentations automatically. You can request that the editor create a variety of presentations, each with an outline and content on each slide.

In terms of design, the company’s new “Magic Design” tool allows users to upload an image and then choose a style to receive a curated selection of personalized templates that can be customized.

A new “Magic Edit” feature, on the other hand, allows you to add or replace anything in an image. You can specify where you want to add something to Magic Edit. A new “Magic Eraser” feature allows you to brush over an area of an image to remove unwanted details.

Canva is also introducing “Beat Sync,” which automatically matches video footage to a soundtrack of your choosing, as well as a new “Translate” feature that automatically translates text in designs to over 100 languages.

Canva is introducing a set of new features that it claims users have requested, in addition to the new AI-powered tools. To begin, the company is releasing “Draw,” which allows you to draw a simple shape, such as a circle, and then have it transformed into a polished circle.

A new “Layouts” feature allows users to add content to a page and get layout ideas for a design,” while “Styles” allows users to browse suggested colour palettes and fonts.

To see all elements, including text, shapes, images, and video, use the new “Layers” tool.

Canva now supports Alt Text, which allows you to provide additional context to your images and elements in order to describe them for those with visual impairments or accessibility needs.

Another new welcome update includes 953 new fonts such as Arial, Courier, Helvetica, and Times New Roman.

In addition, the company is introducing Brand Hub, a suite of new tools and features designed to help teams stay on brand. The hub now includes a new “Magic Replace” tool that enables users to quickly update brand assets, such as logos, across all of your designs on the platform. Furthermore, the hub includes tools for creating brand templates.

Admins can also directly approve workflows in Canva to ensure that designs are reviewed and approved before they are published.

Canva, which was founded in 2013, now has over 120 million monthly users, an increase of more than 35 million since the launch of Canva’s Visual Worksuite in September 2022. According to the company, its platform has been used to create more than 15 billion designs.
